A mobile gambling game is a smartphone-optimised casino website that allows users to access and play gambling games when and where they choose. Whether they’re waiting for an appointment, commuting on the bus or sipping their tea at work – mobile casinos allow people to maximise their gambling time by winning poker hands, spinning slots and laying down bets from the convenience of their smartphones.
The newest generation of smartphone has enabled an entirely new range of interactions with the user and the ability to deliver a richer gambling environment than has previously been possible. This has created a new opportunity for the development of gambling apps and casinos that are compatible with these devices.
This study aims to investigate the role of associative learning, reinforcement schedules and timing in mobile gambling behaviour. Participants were asked to interact with a simulated gambling app on their smartphone that offered fixed rates of reinforcement and variable ratio scheduling. After a period of engagement, the app was placed into extinction, meaning that it was no longer possible to win money. The results showed that the amount of perseverance in the face of extinction was linearly related to previous engagement with the app and that the latencies between gambles were also positively correlated.
In addition, the occurrence of near-misses and relapse to gambling were also associated with problematic behaviours. However, because this was a community-based sample, the associations may be skewed by factors other than the presence of problem gambling and further research will need to explore these relationships in a more controlled setting. The findings from this study provide strong support for the idea that mobile gambling can be a cause of problematic gambling, and it may help to distinguish it from other forms of interactive gaming.
A mobile casino is a website that has been optimised for mobile phones and tablets, usually with iOS and Android software (though some do cater to Blackberry and other older platforms). A mobile casino has all the same features as an online casino, including the ability to make deposits and withdrawals, and many of the same games (with the exception that games are often more compact due to screen size). It can also offer additional features like live-streamed casino experiences, virtual reality options and extra betting features.
A mobile casino can be an excellent way to attract and retain customers, especially as it enables them to place their wagers on the go, without having to worry about finding a traditional brick-and-mortar casino. It’s important for a mobile casino to have top security in place and to be regulated so that its clients can feel safe when placing their bets. A mobile casino should also have a variety of bonuses, rewards and other incentives to keep its players coming back for more. These can be in the form of free spins, tournament entry or even bonus chips. Appy Pie’s casino app builder lets you create a mobile gambling app with the option to add these types of promotional offers for your audience.
